Who is Labubu?

A common question is “Who is Labubu” and the short answer is that she is a popular doll that started out as a character from a series of illustrated books called The Monsters that was created by Kasing Lung.

Not many people knew who is Labubu until Pop Mart purchased a licensing agreement and started to make Labubu dolls.

And then in 2024, Labubu became super popular and viral when Lisa from the music group Blackpink started to carry Labubu dolls around.

2 Types of Labubu Dolls

There are basically 2 types of Labubu dolls

1 ) Labubu Keychain Sold in Blind Boxes

Labubu keychain pendants are the most common dolls and what most people want and we cover them in detail in our guide.

These Labubu doll keychains are sold in blind boxes which means it’s a mystery box and you don’t know which version you’re getting.

These Labubu dolls have a keychain attached and you attach them to purses, backpacks, cars, phones, etc.

These dolls do NOT come with outfits but you can buy outfits to dress them up

There have been four Labubu keychain blind box releases as of May 2026

If you see a Labubu keychain you want but don’t know what it is called, we put together a Labubu Collection List with pictures of every single Labubu doll ever released.

2 ) Labubu Plush Dolls

The second type of Labubu dolls are ones that are big Labubu plush dolls and are sold individually and asides from Rock the Universe and Zimomo, all of them come dressed.

There have also been some pendants such as Let’s Checkmate, Fall in Wild and Labubu Sitting Pumpkin, but the majority of these are big Labubu plush dolls that are much taller in size.

Top 5 Most Popular Releases (Sets)

These are the top 5 most popular Labubu doll releases that can be considered “sets”

Four of these are small keychain pendants while Zimomo is a giant Labubu plush

We included Zimomo in here because even though he’s a stand alone large Labubu plush doll you can consider the 2 versions of him as a “set.”

Mokoko is also another popular Labubu plush doll from the Monsters Universe even though she’s not Labubu.

Note this list was updated in Nov. 2025 and is probably why the new Labubu keychain set called Labubu Pin for Love hasn’t gained traction yet since it was newly released back in August 2025.

How Much Do Labubu Dolls Cost?

We list out the retail prices on Pop Mart and the secondary market price from resellers in case the Labubu doll you want is out of stock on Pop Mart

In 2026, most of the keychain pendants and newer large Labubu plush dolls such as Rock the Universe, Flip with Me, etc ,are all available on Pop Mart.

However, the older and limited versions such as Labubu Vans are harder to find.

How Market Prices Can Change

Reseller prices of Labubu dolls change every day based on supply and demand.

The prices have gone down since July 2025 where some of the most expensive Labubu prices were recorded including a Labubu Vans that sold for over $10,000 USD!

Blind boxes are mystery boxes where you buy a box of the set but the box is sealed and you don’t know which actual Labubu doll keychain you’re going to get until you open the sealed bag.

Where to Buy Labubu Dolls

1 ) Labubu Doll PopMart Official

Pop Mart is the maker of Labubu and in 2026 you can easily buy the more common Labubu dolls on the website, app or at stores.

Occasionally they will restock and the best way to check to see a release is coming is through the app.

2 ) Amazon

Surprisingly Amazon has a very limited selection and the prices are sometimes higher than what you’d pay on eBay

3 ) eBay

This is what we recommend because eBay usually has the best prices and also the widest selection of Labubu dolls including limited releases

4 ) Local Resellers

There are also toy stores and gift shops in your area that sell Labubu dolls but you have to be careful because often they are fake Labubu.

Also if there is a specific Labubu doll you want, make sure you call in advance.

How to Tell Real Original Labubu Dolls from Fake

Fake Labubu or Lafufu as they’re called are everywhere!

1 ) Too Good To Be True Rule

If the deal is too good to be true (around or below retail price), then it’s probably a fake.

Most resellers sell original Labubu dolls slightly above retail so that they make a profit.

An unopened blind box sold for retail could be a fake Labubu

2 ) Quantity Available

Labubu are often sold out and tough to buy so if a reseller has dozens of Labubu dolls in stock and on display, it’s probably a fake!

3 ) QR Code

Every Labubu doll has a unique QR code.

Be cautious if the QR code has been scanned too many times because that means that QR code may have been copied from a real doll

4 ) Seller Ratings

If you’re buying online make sure you only buy from a seller that has over 100 positive reviews and look specifically for positive feedback on past sales of Labubu dolls.

5 ) Compare Pictures

Make sure the Labubu dolls look like a real original Labubu.

3 Reasons Why Labubu Dolls Are So Expensive

You may be like us when we started collecting Labubu and wonder why a Labubu doll is so expensive!

Here are 3 reasons why:

1 ) Pop Mart Release Strategy

This is the main reason why Labubu dolls are expensive.

Pop Mart has many in stock now but overall it’s still limited in supply especially for the limited and larger Labubu dolls

They intentionally keep the supply low and some of the most expensive Labubu dolls such as Labubu Vans were limited releases that were never produced again.

Regional Releases

Some super rare original Labubu dolls such as Mokoko were only released in a Pop Mart theme park in China while Hide and Seek was only released in Singapore.

Blind Box Strategy

Many of the more common Labubu doll keychains such as Exciting Macaron, Have a Seat, Big Into Energy and Pin for Love are all sold as blind boxes which means you don’t know which Labubu doll you’re getting!

This is like a fun way of gambling and some people buy dozens of boxes hoping to get the Secret Characters

Secret Characters

These are special dolls that are limited and the chances of getting one is 1:72 or harder.

2 ) Supply and Demand

Pop Mart’s release strategy combined with Labubu’s popularity and huge demand drives up the cost.

3 ) Quality of Labubu Dolls

Real original Labubu dolls are also high quality and very detail oriented.

From the packaging to the fine detail of the keychain pendants, everything is professionally made and not something you’ll be ashamed to carry around.

Are Labubu Dolls a Good Investment?

People often wonder if Labubu dolls will hold long term value.

Some will but most won’t.

Here are our thoughts and suggestions

Majority Won’t Have Long Term Value

The more common keychain Labubu doll releases Exciting Macaron, Have a Seat, Big Into Energy and Pin for Love won’t have any value and one day these will all drop to the retail price as the popularity dies down.

The only exception would be the Secret Characters from these sets.

Labubu Dolls That Will Have Some Long Term Value

The only Labubu dolls that will still be worth something are the super rare limited Labubu plush releases such as Labubu Vans and many of the most expensive Labubu such as Walk by Fortune, Catch Me If You Like Me, etc.

Prices have gone down dramatically since July of 2025.

Labubu Vans sold for over $10,000 USD in July 2025 can be purchased between $1,500 to $5,000 in mid 2026.

Our Thoughts and Advice

DO NOT buy Labubu dolls as an investment because it’s too risky.

The prices have already dropped from the summer of 2025 and will most likely continue to drop until a new popularity surge happens.

Things like a future Labubu movie and a Pop Mart theme park could drive up these prices to their all time records or even higher.

But DO NOT buy Labubu dolls for long term value because it’ll stress you out and ruin the fun.

Instead, just buy them because you like them or makes someone happy.

The happiness and the memories you’re making is worth way more than the money 😀
